Pair of mid-18th Century Painted and Parcel-Gilt Sicilian Side Chairs
A PAIR OF ITALIAN ROCOCO GREEN-PAINTED AND PARCEL-GILT CARVED SIDE CHAIRS SICILY, CIRCA 1750
In Mobili e Mobilieri nella Sicilia del Settecento the creation of these chairs are attributed to “Maestranze trapanesi,” or artisans of Trapani, a city on the west coast of Sicily.?To our eyes, they offer aesthetic fantasy and the permanence of age to a modern interior. We believe the beautiful embossed and painted leather seats to be original, a rare find in furniture of this age.
One chair with slightly larger dimensions: 37 1/2″ high x 17″ wide x 17 1/2″ deep, with a seat height of 18 1/2″
