Arne Norell was one of the rare designers who both conceived and fabricated his own furniture. During the mid-20th century, his was a household name in European interior design. Inspired by Danish design, he was known for his inventive use of leather, metal, and wood in the production of easy, comfortable furniture.
“Scirocco” is the Italian word for the hot wind that blows from North Africa across the Mediterranean to Italy. This chair looks as if it could keep its owner comfortable and stylish in the face of that desert wind. The original saddle-stitched leather has a lovely mottled surface. In excellent vintage condition.
