INDIGO DYED COTTON SASHIKO FUROSHIKI

Furoshiki, or wrapping cloths, are still used in Japan as storage or transport. The sashiko stitching serves a decorative and practical purpose, to reinforce the four corners of the cloth. Traditional motifs and patterns, such as chrysanthemum petals, are often seen in the embroidery. This one, however, is beautifully personalized with Japanese characters.
