There are friends we don’t see much of over the summer. One elegant lady has been particularly missed. She was our muse as we installed this salon. We like to think it captures something of her femininity and her boldness, an equipoise she achieves without breaking a sweat.
Shown here, a pair of Billy Baldwin linen-upholstered slipper chairs, mirror by Tommi Parzinger, the Daedalus table, a Lawton Mull custom design. The two gilt-framed prints are from Denis Diderot’s seminal enlightenment text, Encyclopedie, ou, Dictionnaire raisonne des sciences, des arts et des metiers. They illustrate equipment used in an 18th century distillery. They were, fittingly, in the Seagrams art collection. Please inquire for more details.
Peeking through the screen, a lady’s portrait drawing by the renowned painter Joshua Reynolds. Please inquire.
A reflection of the room in an Italian Baroque gilt mirror.
Just as we were finished photographing the installation, our upholsterer brought up the Paul McCobb for Directional sofa he had recovered for us in Knoll Classic Boucle. It seemed made for this room. It is one of a pair.
