‘Attila’ Coffee Table by Jean-Michel Wilmotte for Academy
France
1980s
Patinated steel, antique mirrored glass
55″ wide x 33″ deep x 17″ high
Since founding his architecture firm in 1975, Wilmotte has designed several furniture collections through Académy, his publishing and distribution company. Among his most notable creations is the Attila furniture line, developed in the early 1980s, featuring metalwork inspired by the railings of the Luxembourg Gardens.
The Attila table was fabricated in France using traditional techniques to give the metal base a distinctive patina. The top is a 3/4″ thick single piece of antiqued mirror glass with a rough-sculpted edge.
