Chair No. 1 by Lawton Mull
31 ¾” high x 15 ¾” wide x 15 ½” deep (seat height 17 ½”)
Chair No. 1 is Lawton Mull’s attempt to reduce the chair to its most essential parts. We were inspired equally by Swedish 19th century vernacular furniture and great minimalist artists and designers, such as Donald Judd and Gerrit Rietveld, to create an object of graceful functionalism. Made by hand in New York City out of white oak, and without a single nail, following the methods of the anonymous Scandinavian makers of centuries past.
It is available in three versions: untreated oak, Danish blackened, and whitened. Can also be fabricated in other wood.
Cushions customized in any material.
