Warren Platner defined a design as classic when “every time you look at it, you accept it as it is and you see no way of improving it.” That can surely be said of his iconic wire furniture, created in the early 1960s and in continuous production ever since. Deceptively simple in appearance, the sculptural bases are comprised of hundreds of metal rods, some chairs requiring as many as a thousand welds.

This is a vintage set of dining chairs in the early and rare bronze finish. The surface has deeply oxidized over time, producing a rich brown patina, not unlike core-ten steel. The seats and backs of the four chairs have been refurbished and reupholstered in Maharam’s luxurious Alpaca velvet.
