Ebonized Dining Table by Pierre Gautier-Delaye
PIERRE GAUTIER-DELAYE (1923-2006)
France
1970s
Ebonized wood
29” high x 59” wide x 37 ¼” deep
Pierre Gautier-Delaye was one of the great French modernist designers. Like Pierre Chapo and Le Corbusier, he worked with Charlotte Periand. This ebonized table has a distinctly Japanese feeling. The legs flare almost imperceptibly, and while the design is strongly rectangular, the outer corners are softly rounded. The middle interstice is a bold design stroke.
