Sweden
1940s
Brass, lacquered metal shade, leather
15 1/2″ diameter x 20 1/4″ high
We find the design of this classic table lamp irresistible. With its black, matte-lacquered shade, unique finial, and tactile leather-wrapped stem, it casts a lovely down light, perfect on a desk or alongside a reading chair.
Einar Bäckström opened his lighting workshop in Malmo, Sweden, in 1918. He is perhaps best known for his modern designs, often incorporating brass and leather or wood.
