Hammered Iron bowls by Aki Rusu
AKI RUSU (b. 1976)
Japan
Two functional works by the contemporary sculptor Aki Rusu, who welds, bends, and hammers organic forms out of iron.
In this case, Rusu hammered iron into very thin, smooth, lightweight bowls, afterward applying the filigree edges.
The metal has a rust-brown finish, the edges have the delicate, ephemeral appearance of frost on a windowpane.
