The “Oskar” lounge chair was designed by Carl Malmsten in 1939, the same year he participated in the New York World’s Fair. The chair has notably rounded armrests, a restrained curvaceousness that’s a signature of Malmsten’s furniture. The seat is supported by tapered, solid beech legs. Recently recovered in luxurious pewter blue mohair.

Carl Malmsten was a Swedish architect and designer who advocated the use of Swedish materials and artisanal traditions. Malmsten described the home as “an intimate place for gathering and repose,” and his designs elegantly fulfill that purpose. They possess a timeless style and adaptability.
