Gudrun Pagter writes, “In my compositions, I use lines and shapes to achieve a tension and a spatial effect, with inspiration drawn from architecture.”
This strong, dimensional tapestry, called “Deep Form,” is a perfect illustration of her process. But it’s not only the geometry that creates depth: the bright palette applied to these planes aids in defining space.
Pagter weaves her sisal and flax tapestries on a foot-powered loom. Her work is widely exhibited, and in the permanent collections of the Trapholt Museum of Art in Denmark, the Central Museum of Lodz, Poland, and the Schloss Gottorf in Germany, among others. Signed.
