T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings (1905–1976) was a British-born architect and furniture designer known for blending Classical design and Art Deco to create a style he coined “modern historicism.” Having completed his architecture studies in London, he moved to New York in 1936, where he earned acclaim for interior design projects like Casa Encantada and his furniture line Sans Epoque. As chief designer for Widdicomb in the 1940s and 1950s, he produced iconic pieces, our favorite of which is this sofa. His designs can be found in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

This example has been thoughtfully restored and luxuriously reupholstered in a checked Rogers and Goffigon wool with feather and down seat cushion. A rare vintage design, in excellent condition.
