Pair of Kaare Klint Safari Chairs
Oak, canvas, leather
22 1⁄2” wide x 24 1⁄2” deep x 31 1⁄2” high (seat height 12”)
Safari chairs are lightweight and wobbly not because they’re poorly constructed but because they were designed to be easily disassembled and transported and, once reassembled for use, had to be flexible enough to adjust to the uneven surfaces of a typical Safari journey: sand, stone, steppes. They are comfortable in almost any conditions.
Kaare Klint’s version of this wonderfully practical chair is iconic. This pair, from the 1950s, are in excellent vintage condition. The leather straps and navy canvas with its contrasting white stitching are original.
