Pair of Leather and Brass Table Lamps by Jacques Adnet

Pair of Leather and Brass Table Lamps by Jacques Adnet

France
Mid 20th Century
Saddle-stitched leather, brass

By the time he was in his 30’s, Jacques Adnet and his designs had already come to epitomize luxury for connoisseurs of post-war French Modernism. He was inspired by pre-classical styles and organic forms, eschewing fussiness in favor of elegant functionality.

The leather-wrapped, tripod base of these table lamps, intersected with brass rings to emulate bamboo, is typical Adnet. A wonderful example of French craftsmanship, the leather and hand-stitching are in excellent vintage condition.
