Erik Gunnar Asplund (1885-1940) was a prominent Swedish architect and designer in the interwar period. He designed a number of important buildings, including the iconic Skandia Theatre (1922) and Stockholm Public Library (1928).

His ‘Model 6022’ ceiling light was first presented at the Verkstaden Exhibition at Liljevalchs in 1920. It was produced by Böhlmarks through the mid-1960s, and then by Ateljé Lyktan as the “Asplund” ceiling lamp. It features an opal glass shade, delicately suspended by three green-lacquered chains. This one, likely made in the 1960s, is in excellent vintage condition.

Seen here in the sitting room of Asplund’s summer home.
