Eva and Nils Koppel met as students of design and architecture. They worked in Alvar Aalto’s workshop in the late 1930s, and by 1946 had founded their own studio. Initially, they designed and fabricated wallpaper, furniture, and other domestic objects as well as private houses for friends and family. Ultimately they became known for their large public commissions executed in the latter half of the 20th century, in the Brutalist style.

This armchair of their design has been reupholstered in a dense, robins’ egg blue mohair.
