Ellen Victoria Kajerdt studied in art schools in both Stockholm and Copenhagen, and under the royal Swedish court jeweler Halberg. She was a sculptor and metalsmith. Her work is hard to come by, but can be found in the permanent collections of the National Museum in Stockholm and the Eskilstuna Museum.

Not surprisingly for a design made in the Swedish Grace period, which so beautifully married Neoclassicism and Art Deco, this piece is crowned with the figure of Apollo, god of music, wearing a flowing cloak and holding a lyre. The apron and upper corners are affixed with fluer-de-lis, with a thin decorative border around the mirror. Signed.
