Hvidt and Mølgaard founded their own design and architecture practice in 1944, collaborating very successfully on buildings and furniture until their retirement in 1975 (after which the studio continued to practice until 2009). In the 1950s, inspired in part by Charles and Ray Eames, they began to develop high quality furniture for mass production and easy shipping. Together they designed more than 250 pieces of furniture, a number of which have become icons in the history of Danish design. Their work can be found at New York’s MoMA, the National Gallery in Melbourne, and the Danish Museum of Art & Design in Copenhagen.

This comfortable rattan and bamboo lounge chair has a new cushion covered in Maharam’s heavyweight Pressed Linen.
