Ellen Victoria Kajerdt was the maker of this rare and whimsical pewter mirror depicting Diana, goddess of the hunt and also of the moon, in the company of gazelles and stars. Kajerdt studied in art schools in both Stockholm and Copenhagen, and under the royal Swedish court jeweler Halberg. She was a sculptor and metalsmith. Her work is hard to come by, but can be found in the permanent collections of the National Museum in Stockholm and the Eskilstuna Museum.
This mirror and pair of matching sconces are almost certainly unique. They were not produced by Svenkst Tenn, but by the artist herself. Signed and dated 1929.
The sconces can be fully electrified, or returned to their original use as candleholders.
