Ole Wanscher, like his mentor and teacher Kaare Klint, was much inspired by great traditional furniture from other cultures. What makes the designs of Wanscher so wonderfully timeless is how he translated that history of influence into his own modern vernacular. The hoof feet, for example, on this occasional table were borrowed from Chinese Furniture of the 16th and 17th Centuries. However, the restrained design, seen in its sleek profile and subtle curves, is clearly from the hand of a Danish architect.
