After graduating from the Royal College of Art and Design in Berlin, Carl-Johan Boman (1883-1969) worked for his father at the Boman Furniture Factory as artistic director. The factory was a leading manufacturer of fine furnishings, fitting out homes for the bourgeoisie in Finland and Russia. Eventually, Carl took over the factory, leading the company in the more modern direction for which it is renowned.

This armchair is exemplary of Carl-Johan Boman’s Modernist take on traditional forms, with sumptuous curves at the arms and back. The vintage mohair is a wonderfully time-worn lavender grey. We are happy to reupholster with a material of your choice.
