A modern, minimalist, streamlined bench by Stig Lönngren, who in 1957 founded the HI Group, a coalition of Swedish craftsmen and designers.The HIgroup attempted to renew the Swedish art and craft of furniture design at a time when the Danes dominated the market for crafted furniture. The Group disbanded in 1972, but not before producing a number of timeless modern designs built by master craftsmen.

This well-proportioned bench is from that short but productive period.
