Swedish 1940s Palisander Sideboard
51 1/4″ wide x 17″ deep x 32 1/2″ high
A design student researching sustainability recently contacted us to find out if our furniture could be upcycled or recycled. It occurred to us that “upcycling” is an apt description for what dealers do, hunting for neglected treasures and restoring them, giving them a new life.
The gorgeous surface of this Swedish sideboard had become clouded and yellow under its old varnish, the beautiful brass swag pulls wore a dull patina. Now, the wood sings again, and the graceful hardware gleams. It is gratifying to give a master cabinetmaker’s work its deserving care, and usher it into another generation of beautiful use.
