This is a fascinating piece of folk furniture. With the chair atop the table, it performs as a high chair. Flip the seat down on its hinges, and it is transformed into a table and chair. In fulfilling the need for a chair that could be used right side up or upside down, with whatever material was at hand, the maker ended up with a uniquely beautiful, functionalist work which seems to anticipate the birth of modern furniture design.
