Koppitz is considered one of the leading art photographers in Vienna between the two world wars. His work ranges widely in subject matter, though he is most famous for his modernist nude studies. This group of rural scenes was likely included in a 1936 exhibit of late work portraying Tyrolean peasant life, a group of 500 photographs called Land und Leute (Country and People). These three are “Folk from the Valley of the Mur,” “Hay Harvest in Tyrol” and “Bergfriede”.
Each has the photographer’s blind stamp on recto, and are stamped and annotated on verso with “Wien V. Zeinlhofergasse 8”.
In minimalist white metal frames.
