Louis Comfort Tiffany’s metal designs are superbly crafted, often surpassing the works of other metal artisans of the same period. A vocabulary of natural forms can be found in all his metal works, as is evident in biomorphic details like the feet of this lamp base. The designer’s contributions in metal, according to David Revere McFadden, who curated a show of Tiffany metalwork at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum, “remain as eloquent statements of his personal style.”
